  • Who is contiuning the tradtion? I would like to see the next generation or the next RANKS of the RCAF. I support these great mentors. They have been a part of my life ever since I got in trouble drawing on the walls. LOL

  • I'm pretty sure this mural was not painted in 1974. Gonna try to find the correct date. I think it was closer to 1980.

  • Yes, the mural is still there! I am Villa's son, Rene.

  • I didn't think that they had this videos. My mentor who was once my teacher at the time Hector Gonzalez gave me a copy of this video. Your dad is will always be part of the RCAF. As for us we're part of our movement "Brown Issues"! This is your boy Erasmo!

  • Q-vo? This is Xico González del Sindicato Café de Sacraztlán. Como ya dijo el Joao, Favela was one down Chicano that influenced many of us in Aztlán through his art, wisdom, carnalismo and his humor. I am proud to say that I was a close friend of "el profe."

Vatos como Favela no nacen todos los dias! Thanks to Hector Gonzalez for documenting Chicana/o our-story.

    VIVA RCAFAVELA! C/S

  • This is Joao S. from the EL Sindicato Cafe and I was a student of Ricardo Favela's and I can easily say that Favela and the RCAF have inspired me a great deal in my art. It was a great pleasure to have known Ricardo not only as his student, but his friend as well. His legacy will live on through his art and words of wisdom. Ricardo always told his students, "There is no strengtgh without struggle!" Viva Ricardo and the RCAF!

  • I was one of the local mocosos who would ride bikes by to check out the mural when it was being put up. Man, that was a long time ago.

Later I ended up going to high school and becoming good friends with Mal and Vince Montoya (Jose's kids) at Sac High.

Is the mural still there? I moved out of Sacra 27 years ago.

  • Hell yeah! This is Gornie Favela and thats my dad Ricardo Favela with the hat on.

    Thanks for putting this up.
