Brownman - star trumpet player from Guru's Jazzmatazz with his award-winning BROWNMAN ELECTRYC TRIO & special guest rapper PROFESSOR D perform a B.E.T. favourite - Freddie Hubbard's "Red Clay" at Toronto's Gladstone.

Brownman - electric trumpet
Tyler Emond - 6-string electric bass
Paul DeLong - drums
(subbing for Colin Kingsmore)

"Brownman's powerful electrified trio captures the essence of the later years in Miles Davis' life, his electric period, without imitation. Brownman's ELECTRYC TRIO is uniquely his own, yet echoes with the sounds of Bitches Brew and In a Silent Way right down to Miles use of electronics while still managing to stay grounded in the sounds of today. Clearly paying apt tribute to Brownman's NYC mentor Randy Brecker, they are a truly impressive and energized modern jazz outfit"

LYRICS - transcript of what you hear lyrically in this video
==================================================
(Brownman)
From the 1970s, one of my favourite trumpet players, one of the most prolific trumpet players in jazz history. His name's Freddie Hubbard and he wrote a tune called Red Clay. An often sampled tune by HipHoppers popularized by A Tribe Called Quest. I'd like to bring up to the stage a special guest, one of the countries finest freestyle rappers... Professor D.

(melody is played)

(Professor D)
My style is kinda phatt
My style is kinda phatt
My style is kinda phatt
Reminiscent of a whale!
(x3)

Yo yo
Hotter than lava is I slaughter monotonous drama
with all of this consciousness as phatt as your mama is.
Ever since I was a novice, this ominous confidence that brought
me the knowledge to rock this metropolis like apocalypse.
The problem is (the) genre is flooded with this obnoxiousness
so we conquer the garbage with anomalous monuments.
Consider the names D and Brownman it's obvious.
We('re) synonymous phatt as a hippopotamus bottom is.
Come on with this, I rock the whole metropolis.
Dope Poet Society lyrically the awesomest
Professor D with my man Brownman and the Electryc Trio
You know how we do the scenario

My style is kinda phatt

Reminiscent of a whale!
