@iwuvcats455 basically its so the horse doesnt start playing in the water, the idea is that they guys are exercising the horse, if the didnt have the ropes it would be doing what he hell it liked, such as swimming in circles, going the other way etc. its the same as when you are in the arena, unteathered my horse used to charge around like a looney wanting me to do the same, the are fun loving animals and adore to play.
