This is the last set of the last contradance of the 2010 Northwest Folklife Festival in Seattle, Washington. "The Retrospectacles" is an all teenage contradance band comprised of 4 friends; Andrew Foster, Josie Toney, Ethan Jodziewicz, and Scott Leach. The caller for this dance is David Kaynor from Massachusetts. This video was recorded on 5/31/2010 by Ray Leach in the Roadhouse at the Seattle Center. There were an estimated 500+ dancers on the floor at the time! They were dancing a dance written by David Kaynor called "The Baby Rose". The tune names in the medley are: "Catharsis" and "Red Crow".

  • Wow! Hot stuff!

  • Mighty fine musicianship, y'all.

  • That music is really really good.

  • This is really really great stuff. I'm a new fan. Thanks Dex Horton!

  • Scotty and all, I love this video, you guys are amazing! We're going to bring the family to see you guys at the Lake City dance July 1 and can't wait!

  • (This dance sequence is "The Baby Rose" by David Kaynor.)

  • Thanks-nice video. I like how you move around. It's good to see the band--you don't always get a chance to watch them while you're dancing. Looks like it didn't get any less crowded after I left at 2!
