Transience is a meditation on the elusive nature of time devised collaboratively by the performers (Rachel Champion, Amber-Moon Klitzke, Carissa Rickeard, Bea Triarchis and Emma Worthy), the choreographers (Ana Fernández Martínez and Ji Park), the music composers (Cesar Meler and Isatxe), the light designer (Alexander Smith) and the script writer (Sofía Fernández Martínez). The artists involved have used 30 synonyms of the word transience (ephemeral, passing, momentary, transitory ) and two texts from Calvinos Cosmicomics as a starting source. The result is an abstract, at times absurd yet captivating and highly expressive, physical theatre/dance/acting experiment that reflects on how our existences are tangled in an endless sequence of events ad infinitum
The creative process has been freed up from the confining discipline boundaries, the one-language constraints and the tyranny of a logical, linear narrative sequence. We have opted for a non-interfering mode by which all artists have experimented with their own interpretation of a mutual starting source. Transience is the result of this experimentation in present tense (a variety of present moments occurring) and hence its dreamy, meditative quality.
