I want to develop a low-budget Car-Computer which should be able to enhance the standard tachometer. The device will be able to read the car information on-the-fly while driving via the OBD-2 interface which is built-in in every diesel-car since 2003 and every gasoline-car since 2001. The basic functionality is that data will be received via the DB-9 interface and the RS232 Transceiver in the UART1 from the ARM9 CPU. The screen will show a menu which is opened by-touch and will contain different scopes like Error-Messages , Log-Files , Car-Details and so on. In the center of the display there will be a speedometer to show MPH and RPM. The Screen also shows current information like Actual Miles since last refuel , Common Miles , Gas Usage , Average Gas Usage and so on.
