Pappy Waldorf coach of the Bears coached at Northwestern, the year before. He is considered to be the inventor of the West Coast offense. He introduced the two-step drop in the passing game. He had coaches like John Ralston who influenced Bill Walsh and Dick Vermeil. Finally, he was the guy who discovered Otto Graham who never played football in high school instead he was an academic and a basketball player.
