A public discussion at Williamstown Town Hall as part of the Williamstown Literary Festival on 1 May 2010 between Steve Bracks, former Premier of Victoria, and Waleed Aly, social commentator and possibly Australia's most eloquent and coherent voice of reason, on subjects pertaining to Aly's book 'PEOPLE LIKE US: How arrogance is dividing Islam and the West'.
As per the book's cover notes:
"People Like Us confronts the themes that define this chasm [Islam and the West] head on: women, jihad, secularism, terrorism, Reformation and modernity. Its piercing examination of these subjects reveals our thoughtless and destructive tendency to assume that the world's problems could be solved if only everyone became more like us. The result is deep mutual ignorance and animosity, reinforced by both Muslim and Western commentators."
Introduced by Festival President and co-founder Angela Altair

I'd love to hear more of Waleed Aly, he's a very lucid thinker. But he needs to get a better sound guy...
