Actually it wasn't all peace and love. The drug culture is more tragedy than enlightenment. The hippie movement never lived up to it's own hype. Of course being young in those days, and very naive, it was fun and it was the age of aquarius. But in reality it was nothing more than wishful thinking, like the harmonic convergence. Sobriety and pure spiritual seeking will bring enlightenment. Drugs are the path to oblivion. Your life is whatever you create. Blame is cheap and a cowards way out.

Sure 60's were great... it was the rise of two extremes : consuremism, along with the opposite, druggies or hippies or whatever you call it

Flower power forever! Greetings from a San Francisco hippie girl...

Welcome to 2011, where people sit on computers all day and get screwed by the media.

Well as kids of the 60s we had far less but were far happier than most of today's techno-facebook switched kids. I miss the optimism of the 60s and 70s - Where is that today? Have to agree with some posters though that most of those old enough to attend those rock festivals are either dead or receiving psychiatric care ... younger generation please take note.

@OllyJollyOrange There are also more than twice as many people in the world as there were back then.

@lysergicaddict As much as I want to agree with you. I look at people now and as a whole people are very materialistic. I just don't see a shift like this happening for a loooong time, Hopefully I'm wrong. Peace

the next movement is progressively building, it will be 10x as powerful, and it will be permanent. Psychedelic research is moving back into the scientific eye, shamanic understandings are taking new footholds in critical thinking and consciousness studies; it is only a matter of short time! The plants got us in tune once on the plains of africa, then again in the 60's, and they'll get us again even deeper in the techno jungles of the new millennium...
