a flat spot is a weakness in a normally aspirated engine (non-turbo) that shows up as a momentary loss of power whilst accelerating. This is caused by the engine pistons not being asble to mix the correct amount of fuel with the right amount of air to burn effectively in the piston chamber at the right time. Thus the pistons are not forced down with the required force and lose power. the problem gets worse with incorrect air filters, wrong fuel, poor spark plugs and poor driving technique.

@zetecherb Haha... I'm going to have to go dig up my old digicam videos of overtakes in my first, wheezy 1-litre Polo and compare notes :-)
(I learned in a 1.25 Zetec and was very disappointed by the pulling power on dual carriageways etc, trucks challenged it for acceleration ... but then as it was an instructor's car, never properly opened it up... maybe it only comes alive past 3500rpm or something? VW would happily slog from 2000 or so :)

This guy is hilarious. The voice in the vid sounds like a chav townie getting off on stealing a car. The gps on the dash is worth more than the car. And as for overtake, with a car that barely goes 60 he is gonna cause a crash because he has no idea how to drive. No doubt he will post some smart alec remark, but quite honestly, whatever it is, it's negated by his sheer lack of ability as a driver. How do you not see this is retarded?

True, Ford Siesta 1.25's aren't powerful enough to do fast & dangerous things. zzzzZZZZzzzzZZZZzzzz - the passenger has fallen asleep dreaming of the car finally reaching 60 -> the passenger wakes up 2 hours later, the car still hasn't hit 60 yet.

Well actually, Its dubbed the Siesta because its so slow you can fall asleep. I won't give you any bonus points for overtaking a Micra, they actually have a hamster running in a wheel if you lift the bonnet! the 16V micras use Gerbils, they are a bit nippier than hamsters.

Funny thing is is that all you dicks making fun of him have probably only got metros you gamer freaks HAHA 1.25 zetec fiesta are as quick as the 1.6zetec sport fiesta to about 70 so there not actually that slow and you can't just start abusing peoples videos for no reason at all leave the guy alone might be his first car I owned the faster 1.25 in west Sussex and even when it was standard it wasn't slow

@zetecherb Thanks for that dood. Glad you got my back. Truth be known, the video was a pure piss take, it obviously doesn't rival the honda civic type R video's, and astra VXR's out there. But the fiesta 1.25 surely is a spritely engine! And very reliable.

I would hardly call that a fast dangeous overtake! that was just a vehicle pass by a fluke gap in the oncoming traffic! They should have called the 1.25 the Ford Siesta!
