@JonAudrey4everbaby Wait so us hunting is cruel yet animals hunting is not. Im sorry but did you read your post before hitting enter. A shotgun blast to the chest or head is much faster and more human than a coyote eating an animal alive. Or disease making them to weak to hunt and they starve to death. Think before you post other wise you look like a jacka@@

no such thing as a natural ecosystem anymore ...man as an animal has now altered all natural states and all must be managed and dogs a is great way to do so .... no more cruel than a pig factory farm, veal barn, chicken slaughter house, or even a lion strangling a zebra or crocodile drowning a wildabeast...cruel is man separated from his natural state ( as a animal ) and natural environment ( earth )

@Amidat Actually coyotes were not originally found that Far East, they migrated over when the native large predators (wolves and panthers) were extirpated. While true coyotes aren't as good at keeping game numbers down like the original predators, interbreeding with wolves in Canada has caused them to become stronger and bolder than western coyotes.

@Amidat true

@ghag17 - well depending on what a farmer grows... deer can be considered a pest. they sure come on our property and mess with our stuff. the coyotes keep their distance around here for the most part. every situation is different.
-
@Amidat overpopulation of deer is easier to deal with than overpopulation of pests.
-
@cgigal2 - yeahh i never understood why they don't use herding dogs more often... they do quite a good job protecting livestock against coyotes - foxes - bobcats....
-
@ieoreptile - what do you mean coyotes are not natives to the eastern side of the country? you do realize that when the native americans were around there were wolves and mountain lions even in NY state??? Coyotes are the only ones that made it back successfully after they were all hunted to extinction. Now there is an overpopulation of deer because there aren't enough natural predators.

I'd like to see one of these hippies opinions when coyotes kill / hurt their household pets that they care so much about.

cruel? no its cruel that one of these coyotes would drag a baby lamb two hundred yards then eat half of it alive and leave it to bleed to death and the cruel thing is it happens all the time
TheHighlife724 2 years ago
That isnt cruel that is the way the ecosystem works between predator prey animals. i hope one of your dogs get killed or i hope some thing will turn on you you selfish hick. by the way it may be legal but sooner then later it will be illegal and your ass will owe some fines

if i didnt do my part in the ecosystem by eliminating some of these coyotes there would be no ecosystem where I live they are wiping out the rabbit and turkey population. and thats nice that you would wish bad on me and my dogs although you care so much about mangy diseased coyotes that kill our livestock that help our family survive.

@TheHighlife724 Oh please, rabbits are no where NEAR being wiped out. And disease wipes out turkeys more than anything else. If you're having a problem with predators eating your livestock, your stupid dogs are obviously not doing their job guarding your animals. Depending on your livestock, get an electric fence if you have turkeys, and invest in a donkey or a llama for your sheep herd. (Very effective "guard dogs")

They are not guard dogs they are hunting dogs i never said they were guard dogs so i dont know why your quoting me and I would like you to go ask some farmers how they feel about coyotes and i gurantee majority would love to get rid of them and about the rabbits i said "where i live" and by that i meant my property
