No two men had more influence of the shaping of the modern western world than Charles Darwin and John Calvin. Of these two, no man had a greater impact on the founding of America that John Calvin. In this video, John Adams, a leading signer of the Declaration of Independence and the second President of the United States, praises the influence of John Calvin and the other men of the Reformation on the development of religious liberty. You can learn more about the influence of Darwin and Calvin at the Reformation 500 Celebration. Sign up at http://www.visionforumministries.org/events/r500/.
And while you say John Adams was the "leading signer" of the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson was its chief author (by far), and as artanis68 said, his views do not exactly line up very well with that of Calvin. To say the least. The ways and ideas of these men were not spawned in the inspiration of religion, but in the freedom of thought and belief outside of such confines. Religion was merely a ship in the ocean of their ideals, afloat amongst many, nor the biggest by any means.

You are correct in stating that "Of these two, no man had a greater impact on the founding of America that(n) John Calvin." Out of ONLY those two, you are completely without err. Unfortunately, when the scope is broadened to the rest of humanity, and you know, ACTUAL FOUNDING FATHERS (!), that sentence is as solid as Jello.

Yeah... I find it very bizarre that you could link John Adams with the notion that this nation was founded on Christianity, when the man himself signed the treaty of Tripoli, containing the strongest rebuke of that idea that has ever been, or ever could be uttered. Article 11: "As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion;" I've never heard stronger words spoken on the subject, and they are words which carry his very signature.

I love how this video seems to imply that John Adams was a supporter or advocate of John Calvin and Reformed theology. John Adams HATED the theology and religion of John Calvin, so as did Thomas Jefferson. I suggest you read the letters to and from Adams and Jefferson regarding this matter and see for yourself the disdain they had for this theology. Next time you might be a little more honest in your videos.
