Even if we had only 1/6 of our current military expenditures, it would be equal to that of China, and we'd have about 570 BILLION dollars saved EVERY YEAR. So while the Republicans are talking about the "necessity" of cutting billions from health care, education, and other social programs to balance the budget, they're NOT willing to admit that a relatively small cut to the defense budget would acheive the same result, while not screwing thousands if not millions of Americans out of much-needed social services. How anyone half a brain or half a heart can vote for those bastards is beyond me.

@bunkmasterflex - Damn. I didn't know that fact. That's actually really depressing in a way. :( But in a way it's kind of hopeful because it shows that a lot of the world's problems aren't insurmountable. It just requires the social and political willpower to get it done. If we had something like a Marshall Plan for Africa it could greatly aid the world economy down the line as Africa has enormous economic potential.
