There are only a few places that average hikers can camp by the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park. One of my favorite places is Granite Rapids. A bonus of staying here is that you can watch rafters running the rapids. You have to know how to hike on rugged trails in the canyon to reach this site. Be prepared!

  • @rzimmer16 Sorry, but you are mistaken. It can be used by river runners. However, it is one of the campsites listed by the Backcountry Information Center as a designated campsite and must be listed on your backcountry permit. Hermit Creek riverside campsite is in the same category. The Monument Creek campsite which you mentioned is also an permitted camping area.

  • This video is incorrect. Granite rapid campsite along the river is reserved for river parties. The hiker camp for granite is up beautiful monument canyon, about a mile, with campsites and toilets for hiking parties.,
