I'm confused by your post, Massa didn't lose the race because of the safety car, he lost the race because he took off down the pit lane with the fuel hose attached. Lewis got 6 points and Massa didn't score, if Massa had won and Lewis got second, Massa would have gained 2, not lost 6, and been 8 points better off overall, and would have won the title by more than the point you quoted :)

This race and Spa 2008 signified the demise of Raikonnen's 2008 championship shopes, watching him crash out was really sad

Well formula one is not about "could", "would" or "if". Fact is Massa and Hamilton had the chance to win the championship in the 2008 finals and Hamilton won it. We could argue forever about what would have been if? What would have been if Massa had won Singapur? What would have been if Hamilton hadn't gotten the penality in Spa? It's senseless.

Agreed really, I think the title was probably justified after the penalty was given Hamilton at Spa.
