Many police officers are asking the question: if prohibition didn't work for alcohol, why are we in denial about it working for other things? LEAP is a major initiative now, and gaining steam. Check out www.leap.cc for more.

I have never seen such a cornucopia of disconnected comments in my life.

Stick to the topic. The "War" on drugs is a failure, just like prohibition was.

Wake up. If you or you're kid, or a friend was arrested and thrown into prison for holding a joint, you would be thinking.."wait a minute, this should be a personal choice, just like having a Scotch." We made progress with smoking, drunk driving and other things through education...we can do the same with drugs. Decriminalize it.

What is really sad and unforgivable is that indigenous people in columbia are being displaced by aerial spraying of regions where coca is grown. All this does is make coke dealers product more fought over and it kills native vegetation, food crops and people.

What bothers me the most about the War on Drugs is WHERE did the goverment get the authority?Ive read the ENTIRE Constitution...and there is NO POWER granted to the federal govt to do what they are doing..ANY power not specificlly enumerated to the federal goverment is the decision of the STATES and CITIZENS..federal drug laws are UNCONSTITIONAL!!..it was a slow delebrate power grab which began with "tax acts" and progressed to an all out ban, then without even so much as an amendment became WAR!

And it would probably start some kind of NEW drug war, between America and Mexico.

Mexico is already a third world nation. If we take that profit away. They have nowhere to go and would end up being very inhospitable to us as Americans. More then they already are. We already can't go into some regions of Mexico for fear of being killed. If we do this then it will for sure be a blood bath. Just my thoughts. Have a nice day.

Trust me. I am all for legalization of drugs. Be it marijuana, hashish, cocaine or whatever you choose to do. It should be up to us as a free country to do so. Yes their is a problem with children getting hold of it. But if we legalize it, it would be controlled. Not just handed out on the street corner to a 10 yr old who wants it.

Another reason it won't stop is the drug cartel in Mexico. If it gets legalized in America, they lose all profits and any kind of monetary gain.

The first reason the war on drugs is still going, is they need to fill all of the (private) prisons. Most of the prisons are just about if not maxed out in overcrowding situations. Hence the reason they keep building them.

The second reason is. They can't stop it. And even IF they could, They won't. It's too much profit for Prisons, Police, Attorneys and Judges. If the Government could stop the drugs from entering the U.S. they would have by now. They can't so it's a moot point.

What I see these "compassionate cops" doing is renaming the War on Drugs and continuing a further apocalyptic assault to control, regulate, maintain and crucify anyone in their way. A police state, of course, again, under a different name to make it more civil. Soon we'll have tanks rolling down Main street and RPG's aimed at heat signatures.

    Don't relax.

    Watch these pricks.
