  • I totally miss these kinds of graphics, the 80s work in particular.

  • Well, I made that one for Dana in 1982. I don't know where it was used after that..

  • It's not from the 80's if its not floating above a grid.

  • @ioph3 - Glad you like it, thanks. No, its not possible to show them in motion because they never existed that way. I created these as slides, not on motion picture film. They only existed as stills for slide show, TV, video and print purposes.

  • Great work and love the music, where can I find this track?

  • @Ian16545 - The song title is "After Hours".

  • @MSTS1 And what's it called?

  • No, WGBH was not a client of ours, I did no work for them, at least none that I can remember..

  • (continued from above comment) Didn't they, MSTS1?

  • (See your email inbox..)

  • I was afraid you'd say something like that :) I am sure it would be difficult to find anyone still working non-digital equipment today. If you'll allow me, can you remember any specific model names for the equipment and accessories you used back in the day?

  • Well, I made these professionally, with all the systems, equipment and accessories to support it. I don't know if anyone still works this way or where. Not a do-it-yourself set-up, for sure. I guess the best place to start would be to find someone who still does this work..

  • MSTS1, if I wanted to learn how to optically create logo and title graphics like the styles you used in your 80's slides (streaking, glowing letters, etc) what would be the best place to start? I'm very used to shooting on 35mm and 120mm but I have never gone into graphics. I'd love to learn the way it used to be done before digital systems arrived.

  • Very good.

  • Thanks- and these go back a while too. I used only a short group from the 80's era, and actually, I was still a teenager when I made many of those in that section..

  • As I watched this, two things really got me remembering:

    0:23 -- "THIS IS CBS!"

3:50 --Veryfine had those glass bottles, 2-D graphics and those environmentally-friendly styrofoam labels!

  • Nice job!

  • I probably bet WGBH must've used a few of these for their underwriting plugs...

  • It's another cut from the atmospherics disc that I used for the Electro-Boston short..

  • I remember those. Thanks.

What is the music. It sounds very familiar but can't seem to put my finger on it?

  • Just joking around, lol. Still would've been inappropriately funny/sarcastic, though.

  • That never crossed my mind until you just said it now...

  • You expected me to say "THIS SUCKS ROCKS, GO AWAY DICKHEAD AND STOP MAKING VIDS" ???

  • That's nice of you to say; thank you )

  • Hmm...So that's how you got the awesome editing skills you have today! Terrific.
