The Year Of Jubilo

This is an old song from the Civil War - also known as "Kingdom Comin'". I love the ramshackle, anarchic version of by the Holy Modal Rounders from 1978, and I've used their words - probably considered less than correct these days - in this version. Guitar, vocal, two mandolins, fiddle and acoustic bass guitar. Loose, off the cuff and a bit of fun! Pick up the instrument an join in - it's in G with a little Em interlude in the middle... By the end of this, I was so full of laughter at the silliness of it all, I'm afraid I just cracked up...

The original lyrics' style is somewhat hammy, to my way of thinking - and the Holy Modal Rounders probably felt the same, as their words (which I've used) are much snappier and to the point! :-)

1863, I believe and, in the way that "Lili Marlene" was popular with both Axis and Allied troops in WW2, "Jubilo" was popular with troops from both North and South in the American Civil War. Strange, eh? :-)

Really great. I'm a mando beginner and I'm working on this song from the Fiddler's Fakebook. It has an A and B part but and around 1:15 you do a break that I don't recognize. Is it just a deviation on A/B, or something else?
