UFO Storyline on DYNASTY / THE COLBYS

Richard Shapiro, creator and executive producer of "Dynasty," his wife Esther Shapiro and "Dynasty" actors Gordon Thomson and Emma Samms recall the infamous alien abduction storyline on the 1980s ABC hit soap that may have put one of the final nails in its coffin.

far as I remember they never revealed on dynasty if it really happend to fallon or if it just was a dream.

@shacks29 indeed. they just dropped it midway through season 8. In fact they turned it into "Jeff and Fallon's marriage falls apart" storyline, which also made little sense.

This was the cliffhanger for the Colby's. I actually liked the Colbys better after while...then when I saw this...I said uh oh...but Dynasty was on a downhill spiral...Fallon wasn't the same when Emma and the writers made Fallon a whimp on the Colbys! The original Fallon would have slept with one of the aliens! ha ha! But the final season of Dynasty was good when they brought the best thing that happened to the Colbys, Sable to fight with Alexis.

You think that this story created by writers of Dynasty has somehow killed the soap? I never understood why Dynasty was stopped after nine seasons. This scene is the Colby in the soap? Not remember well... I know that The Colby's series was stopped after two years, exactly in 1987.

I think the writers were trying to ride the zeigiest here and piggyback on stories in the papers about abductions. The mid to late 80s saw a lot of these types of stories popping up (I remember the book Communion was huge during this time). It's a shame Dynasty had fallen so far off the map by this time (from serious drama in first 2 seasons to camp). And we have to see Fallon (played by Emma Samms) whimper through another scene. The aliens should have brought back Pamela Sue Martin;)

Both Richard and Esther have very good points: this storyline COULD'VE worked, had it been just a hallucination and been a study of psychology (though they shouldn't have actually shown the spaceship, I think). But it wasn't apart of the original formula of Dynasty. "The first person who laughs is fired." XD
