Welcome to Part II of How to Retouch Portraits in Lightroom, an advanced tutorial on retouching portraits in Lightroom.

Before proceeding, be sure to have already completed Part I of How to Retouch Portraits in Lightroom since we are going to be building upon what we have already done.

In this Lightroom video tutorial, we are going to focus on taking what we learned in Part I, and apply it to an actual professional image of one of our gorgeous models. Of course, she isn't going to need much retouching, which is why we didn't use her for the first article. Once we touch up the photo, we will also be using some new techniques to really make this photo pop.

Enjoy!

  • hey how did you check where the mask is?

    what do you press?

    thanks!

  • Great tutorial, thanks for the help!

  • I don't get why he wouldn't use the Auto Mask and the "Show Selected Mask Overlay" option.

  • is there an option to show the MASK by default? would make sense rather than previewing it after your strokes.

  • Great tutorials

  • Very cool, thanks. :)

  • Are you using a PC or mac, also what cpu/memory combination do you have?

The speed lightroom is very quick

  • I'm not positive on this, but I think you can hide those circles (for each brush/gradient/etc.) by hitting "H", and you can show the red mask by pressing "O" (for overlay), so you can see the red AS YOU PAINT IT ON, or AS YOU ERASE IT. That way you don't have to hover over the circle to see the overlay, then try to remember where you saw too much red, erase, check again, etc. Just "O" to show overlay, erase what you want, then "O" again to hide overlay. Just extra help for those wondering.

  • Great tutorial, above the average for sure.

  • Great, that helped alot!
