If you have mastered the side lunge with no weight and you wish to increase the intensity you may want to perform the exercise holding a pair of dumbbells for extra intensity. The exercise will help to strengthen and tone the quadriceps and the gluteal muscles specifically the glute medius and the adductor muscles will benefit from a stretch during the exercise.
