Irish Soprano Emma Kate Tobia sings Amhrán na bhFiann- The Soldiers Song: the Irish National anthem.

Sinne Fianna Fáil
A tá fé gheall ag Éirinn,
buion dár slua
Thar toinn do ráinig chugainn,
Fé mhóid bheith saor.
Sean tír ár sinsir feasta
Ní fhagfar fé'n tiorán ná fé'n tráil
Anocht a théam sa bhearna bhaoil,
Le gean ar Ghaeil chun báis nó saoil
Le guna screach fé lámhach na bpiléar
Seo libh canaídh Amhrán na bhFiann.

English translation:

Soldiers are we
whose lives are pledged to Ireland;
Some have come
from a land beyond the wave.
Sworn to be free,
No more our ancient sire land
Shall shelter the despot or the slave.
Tonight we man the gap of danger
In Erin's cause, come woe or weal
'Mid cannons' roar and rifles peal,
We'll chant a soldier's song.

  • I guess I should have posted the lyrics before : here they are in both Irish and English. Emma Kate's "Gaeilge" is from Connaught although she is Scottish born

  • No, it's Italian. Her fathers family were Italian with an Irish mother but she has lived here forever!- also went to an all Irish secondary school where every subject was through Irish a great grá for the gaeilge !!!

  • My wife is Irish, Thank you for the Gaelic/English lyrics.

  • pronounce your words girl still very very good

  • she didnt pronounce some of the words properly or else its the part of ireland shes from we pronounce them differently...

  • Why did they put it in a language no one understands? I have no idea what she's saying so it becomes kind of meaningless really. I know more about "God Save the Queen" than "Aran na Bhfian". :(

  • Ireland, The Netherlands, Poland, Canada and Japan... those are the countries with the most beautiful anthems in the world... FINE; Russia too...

  • Beautiful language and beautiful song.

    Greetings from Germany

  • Ar Abhas. Tá sí go hálainn!
