Possible Charges in Kings County Hospital Death

June 19, 2009 -- Brooklyn, NY -- Charges may be filed against employees at Kings County Hospital related to the death of a patient last year.

Esmin Green, 49, died on the psychiatric emergency room floor at the hospital last year after she collapsed and fell out of her chair. Surveillance camera footage from the emergency room shows that Green was on the floor and ignored by hospital staff for almost an hour before she received care, by which time she was already dead.

The New York City Department of Investigations issued a report that found that certain hospital staff falsified hospital records to cover-up their failure to provide timely care. The release of the report clears the way for criminal charges to be filed.
