I was tired of people saying that captive cetaceans don't matter or there was worthier causes, so I made this! True, some people and animals may be in greater pain right now, but that doesn't mean we should ignore the pain of others.
Please do not use any of the photos, they are not all mine!

  • there

not being forced to preform. there asked.

  • @AlanisDevinaBFF They're forced to perform using a method called positive reinforcement. This is when the animal is rewarded when it does something "good", and ignored when it does something "bad." Now, in captivity, trainers take the place of social companions. Most cetaceans are very social animals, depriving them of attention is abusive as that is what the animals live for. But there are also still aquariums who will not feed the animals unless they perform. That's how they are forced.

  • @124yuppers so your saying that if they dont preform they dont get the food? then how come Tilly the orca does not preform because he attacked his trainer but still gets the food.

  • @AlanisDevinaBFF I am saying in many places they are still not fed unless they perform, seaworld is not one of them. There are, however, other ways inwhich seaworld makes its orcas perform that I mentioned before.

  • Just to point out one thing - about the echolocation not being used.

It's actually, dolphins can use their echolocation in a tank, and they try to, but the sound waves just bounce off the walls, rendering them senseless. So basically, they have to rely on eyesight when in a tank.

    But good, informative video!

  • @FreedomForOrcas Thank you! I've read a couple things that said they have no use for their echo-location, so that's why I put that in the video. But I've also seen videos inwhich they state that their echo-location bounces of the walls. Both are probably right :)

  • @124yuppers - That's true, they're probably the same thing anyway. Either way, they can't use echolocation in a tank, which is basically their primary sense. It'd be like forcing a human to wear a blindfold all their life.

  • I would not bother arguing with RingNeck, she's about as coherent as roadkill. And her argument consists of "OMG LYK ANTI-CAPS SUCKZ LOLZ!11!11!!". It's painfully obvious that someone just wants orcas in captivity for their own amusement, because really they don't give a damn about the wild orcas.

Also, RingNeck, wouldn't bother messaging me, i blocked you a long time ago. Way to lose friends and make enemies.

  • @RingneckDoveFan HAHAHA!!! You said- can't not. LOL YOU'RE STUPID.
