(Visit www.sustainablefarmer.com to learn more) Neil Kentner raises heritage sheep, ducks, chickens and pigeons on his eight-acre farm outside Mason, Michigan. A Michigan State University graduate in animal science years ago, Kentner understands the importance of maintaining genetic diversity, so he has devoted himself to helping establish ancient breeds of sheep from England, such as Wensleydales, Jacob sheep and Blue Leicesters. His gorgeous Dark Brahma chickens are the same breed that was established by tiremaker Harvey Firestone decades ago.
