If you have ever found a baby bird and nobody to turn to, here are instruction on how to mix up some bird food to tie you over for a few days until you have found a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. Keep in mind that possessing any migratory bird is a violation of federal law, even if you just want to help.

  • I found a baby wood thrush today on my porch, the cats have killed both the mum and other babies. I cant take it to a center, long story. So Ive been fedding it this basically minus the cuttlebone. And hes been doing fine for a few days. But today he keeps stopping and stretching his neck out. and looks really languid. Whats going on? I feed him the right amounts and at the right times. Ive been doing research. Help?

  • @ShenaniBanani Where have you been keeping him?

  • @MissDolittle I made a makesift nest from tissue and cloth in a shoe box and cut a hole in the top. He used it just like a nest.

  • @ShenaniBanani No I mean do you keep him inside or outside? If you keep him inside, he will end up with metabolic bone disease if he doesn't have a real sunlight grow light. Without the cuttlebone that provides the necessary calcium for the bones which the sunlight (by providing natural vitamin D) helps the calcium reach the bones. 3 days without sunlight and calcium and bones start breaking, organs begin to fail....
