Bhante Pannasiri's Biodata:
Bhante P Pannasiri Thero received his ordination in 1985 at the age of 15. From the onset Bhante realised that is was not the donning the robes that was important but the quest for knowledge so as to be relevant in the dissemination of the Buddha Dhamma. Bhante committed himself to seek knowledge not only in Buddhist studies but also in other fields. He obtained his first degree majoring in Sociology from the University of Paradeniya . He also followed a Masters in linguistics and a diploma in Buddhist Studies from the Kelaniya University Sri Lanka. Currently he is pursuing another Masters under the guidance of Dr.Sasanka Perera at the University of Colombo. His research paper is on "A Sociological Analysis of Doctrinal and Practical Buddhism".
Bhante has served as a visiting lecturer at the Pali and Buddhist Department at Kelaniya University and was appointed English instructor of the Buddhist and Pali University. Currently he is the principal of the Sri Wimalasiri English Dhamma School. Bhante is also a guest columnist on Dhamma in the national print media in Sri Lanka. He also delivers Dhamma sermons on National Radio and Television in Sri Lanka. Bhante will be on a short lecture circuit in Germany after completing his first leg of the K Sri Dhammananda Lecturer Circuit 2008 in Malaysia.
