"I don't want to leave nana." Melissa hugged her grandmother. She kneeled in front of her seat.

"I don't want you leaving either Melissa. I'm going to miss you."

"I'm going to miss you so much nana."

"Make sure you call me here. Call everyone. They love hearing from you."

"I will. I promise."

"You have to take care of your mom and brother okay? Everyone's in shock mode now. But you have to keep going."

She nodded.

She felt her heart hurting again.

"I know. I know. It's going to take time nana. Lots and lots of time." She said, her voice still coming in whispers.

A week passed fast. It was now Friday, and the day to depart. Melissa snuck out of the house and found her wa to the cemetery.

She stared at the family grave. Her father, buried right next to his brother, right under his parents, and his nephew below them.

She placed a vase full of jasmines in the middle of their grave.

Her father's favorite.

"Rest in peace, daddy. We love you." A tear glided down her rosy cheek.

She knew she wasn't going to come back and visit the grave any time soon.

"I'm sorry."

She sat in front of it. Staring at her father's favorite quote that was engraved on the tombstone right under his name.

"Don't worry, be happy." It read.
___

I was back in New York in no time.

No sleep for 7 days now. It still hadn't affected me. Mama woke up in cries in the middle of the night sometimes. I knew I should be awake and be there for her. At least she got sleep here and there.

It's just too hard without him.

Watching mama lonely, with no one by her side, crying all the time, staring at the door for hours as if daddy was going to walk through any minute, tracing her fingers along his old van that she never wanted to drive, going through his closet and not wanting to change the way anything was placed.

One thing a child never wanted to see was her mother in tears.

And now I had seen it twice.
