This was a very special day. People traveled from all over, to pay tribute to the legendary Francisco Aguabella. I felt honored to be a part of this event. I had the pleasure of meeting John Santos, Michael Spiro, and Carol Steele - all three of them master percussionists in their own right. It was also great to see (and hear) Lazaro Galaraga, who is a veritable repository of knowledge with regard to the religion and associated folkloric aspects. I had the pleasure of sharing the stage with him during the period of time that he co-directed Odara with Guillermo Cespedes and Nengue Hernández. I also ran into Angel Figueroa, who is another scholar in this music, and who is a music professor at USC. On this selection, the drummers are Mike Orta, John Santos, Ed Valencia; Vocalists: Jagbe Onilú, Afimaye Galaraga Lazaro Galaraga, and Carol Steele; Other drummers present: Virgilio Figueroa, Angel Figueroa, Michael Spiro, Remy Spiro, Joe Addington, Bobby Wilmore.
