Wildirishman21,
I like the dry gulch work too, because it's not dry all year around, and it lets Mother Nature slowly, over time, concentrate more heavies in the bottom, for ME to dig, carry & sluice at the creek. Since you can't dig/dredge directly in the creek due to BLM rules, why not work the second best spot? :) Randy C-17A

Davemoore52266,
If you Google up Cache Creek, CO, the BLM web site tells a little of the interesting history. Worked from about 1860 to 1910ish. Hydraulic mining was the only profitable way. Gold too fine & widely scattered across the park placer. Further up the hill Cache Creek is named Last Canyon and there is a gold mine about 12,000 feet on Quail Mtn. Some old miner cabin remains up near the top. No ghost towns. Randy C-17A triple w (dot) goldadventures (dot) biz
