Got rid of my Seymour Duncan SH6 (Distortion) that came with my Edwards Les Paul and installed a set of Phat Cats (P90s in a humbucker size). I love them, the guitar has less output but it's A LOT more clear and punchy.

I'm not playing metal anymore so I wanted great cleans and bluesy tones and these Phat Cats Deliver! but the best thing is the AMAZING rock tone they provide.

the amp is an Egnater Renegade Head into a Tourmaster 2x12 cab

  • P90s rule! I've completely quite humbuckers.

  • Great sound! Just ordered one for my Tele.

  • Would you say the amp works well for rise against? with or without the SH6

  • It sounds heavenly in the neck position. I want this in the neck position to accomodate the Pearly Gates humbucker thats going to be in the bridge of my guitar. And your demo has convinced me! Thanks a lot!

  • I have an Edwards Les Paul (mine's white), and was thinking of getting some humbucker-sized P90s for it. Great to see these handle a wide variety of tones!

  • @TheVibeBandTV I'm wanted P90s tone....and Phat cats are somewhat of a P90 in a humbucker casing.

  • @SaintZ42 no man, I'm not using any distortion pedal, or boost. it's straight up Guitar > amp. And the gain wasn't that high either... (at the end around the 4:00 mark I did upped the gain quite a bit, but other than that, it wasn't that gain heavy.... Awesome pickups I must say......at least in this guitar.

  • Are you you using a distortion pedal are the amps? I have a phat cant bridge with a bare knuckle blackguard flat 52 neck (wonderful for blues). But I cant seem to get any good distortion out of it, using my peavy deuce VT amp. I'm thinking about buying a humbucker, but could effects pedal's just solve my problem.

  • The Jb SH4 set would have been also good for ur current style I reckon

  • ...ummfff. pretty much messy sound when you played Master of Puppets. these are not for that sort of riffs dude. awful.;-( if you wanted cheesy noodles blues you should rather stick to it.
