@fulunty That is very true. We all should recognize that the East has a tradition of silence and stillness too...in fact Father Christopher says that every major world tradition has it. The issue is that in the West, many think that this isn't in Christianity but it has always been there and needs to be cultivated or the tradition becomes a caricature of itself. The Christian version of silence has roots just as old as the ones you mention and yet the average person doesn't know about it.
