This is the fastest Super Mario 64 run-through without glitches that I have seen. This run was not done by me, but rather by my brother, Ian, sitting around in a college house in front of a lively audience on Saturday, April 16, 2011, starting at around 2:09 PM. Time is measured from the second the new game is chosen from the menu (0:22) till when Mario touches the big star at the end of the third Bowser fight (1:20:52). This run was recorded from a copy of Super Mario 64 on the Wii Virtual Console with a Gamecube controller.

  • What is TAS???? PLEASE RESPOND

  • @UltraPyrusTwo Tool-Assisted Speedrun. It means it was done with an emulator and using various tricks. Redoing routes, running the game at 1FPS, etc.

  • I'm not trying to be mean, but the record for a "glitch" run is 51:20 minutes for 70 stars, and even without using any glitch, they would easily get under 1 hour for 70 stars. 1h20 is still a decent time, but you should watch some other Super Mario 64 speed runs to learn fastest routes. Best of luck!

  • @Xermon Constructive criticism? On MY YouTube?

There's hope for the internet after all!

  • 02:22 am i really the only one using the wall-kick possible at the left grass wall? just side flip, wall-kick, and you'll grab onto the top layer of the mountain.

  • @mariosunshinefaan Any chance you have a video showing what you mean? From your description what he's trying isn't saving much time as opposed to using the teleport.

No game-quake, no stutter, nothing goes out of whack. How does jumping off the edge constitute a glitch?

  • @KelThuzad913 tell me about it, im actually doing a new speed run over thanksgiving break cause ill have access to a capture card again. ive been doing a lot of practicing, ill hopefully be down close to 1:12:00. the video will be up as soon as i finish the run

  • many fails ^^

  • official new time of 1:15:59, new video to come soon

  • well, did a new run today, wasnt recording because my brother forgot the capture card. at star 44, i turned off the wii in epic frustration. i was fucking up in wet dry world on a star i never fucked up on. two minutes later, restarted with the time at 44 minutes and 45 second. finished with a time of 1 hour, 14 minutes, 9 seconds. will have a new video in about a week, because if my brother doesnt bring the capture card ill kill him. i will get below 1 hour 12 minutes, its going down....

  • i will be doing a new speed run, probably on august 13th or 14th, shooting for sub 1:16:00. after watching this video, i count about 28 terrible and embarrassing mistakes. this is unacceptable, look for improvements to several stars, thanks a lot for watching.
