The Bigamist

Harry and his wife Eve are trying to adopt a baby. Their adoption agent senses Harry is hiding something and follows him on one of his frequent trips to LA. There the agent discovers Harry a second wife and a baby. Before long Harry must tell the adoption agent how he ended up in two marriages.

I had a hankering to watch this again especially after watching last night's repeat episode of Kim Catrall's ordeal on Who Do You Think You Are? Thanks OpenFlix and YouTube. Maybe it's different by state or has changed over time but doesn't the legitimate wife have to bring charges nowadays?

clearly wayyyyyy ahead of its time. probably could on;y have been made by a woman director and a triumph for ms. lupino. this must have been majorly disturbing to the theater-goers of its day. young folks of the present will never understand it. well-written; well acted. so much more meaningful than most of the present claptrap. its message will stay with me. thanks for making it available.
