Interestingly, his veiw of the serpent acting on man's behalf is similar to the "gnostic" tradtions, where the serpent was christ, and not satan.

@Timrath The only reason he failed was because he died in battle. His last words were "Galilean you have won." :-(. He was a great leader as well as a pagan.
