Julian Bond interviews the Rev. Dr. Calvin O. Butts III. Dr. Butts is pastor of Abyssinian Baptist Church, a large, historic, and broadly influential church located in Harlem in New York City. In addition to serving as pastor, Dr. Butts is founder and chairman of the Abyssinian Development Corporation, a non-profit organization formed by the church, which has invested $500 million in the surrounding community. Dr. Butts also serves as president of the State University of New York College at Old Westbury.
