junkman2000 on youtube, has some really detailed videos about detailing your car. He explains everything very well and in great detail, you guys should check him out. He made some cool videos about how to use a PC and how to wet sand your car.

faint scratches can be minimized using some compound applied by hand or with an orbital buffer. very deep scratches, need to either be professionally wet sanded or painted, which can be done at some detailing shops and all body shops. I'd recommend starting with compound and touch up paint for chips, and if that doesn't work, head to a professional detailer (not a car wash!)

When the guy with the machine polisher is done polishing, notice all the red paint on the yellew pad when it's turned face up at about 7:21. That can't be good. I'll stick with doing it by hand.

when your washing in the sun, isnt it best to wash from top down and make sure you keep the whole car wet until you dry it down as fast as you can so you dont get waterspots?

might not on a car, I should have mentioned, it works well for me on my motorcycles, especially the all the nooks and crannys around the engine fins etc. for painted bodywork, tank, fenders, chamois is best.
