  • I'm trying to go to West Point, so if I go there can I still enlist in the Marines?

  • @Mad4softball Usually West Point grads become Army Officers. You may still be able to be a Marine after, but it is probably different and we have no idea what the process would be to do so.

  • @Mad4softball Most West Point grads will be Army officers. An average of 1 officer from each of the other services (Marines, Navy, Air Force) is commissioned from West Point every year. Your chances are very bad. You will still need to go to Marine OCS after.

  • @MidwestMarines My chances for what are bad? My chances for getting into West Point? Because if so I'm aware that it is a very competitive process...

  • @Mad4softball We were only talking about your chances of becoming a Marine officer at West Point. Getting into the service academies are tough, but not as hard as some might think.

  • There's no female, or male Marines. There's no fewer, or prouder. They are all just Marines. Hell, it could be a race, gender, and religion all at the same time

  • Listen lady, I'm not a marine, but I'm athletic female, and I could easily take down in a fight my ex boyfriend was a US Marine. I'd take down any SHIT who'd give me disrespect MISOGYNY. STOP TELLING WOMEN TO PUT UP WITH MISOGYNY AND SWALLOW UP DISCRIMINATION. BREAK THEIR F**G FACE IF THEY DISREPECT. THEY'S *NOT* THAT STRONG.

  • In order to join the lioness program, whats required?

  • @Mad4softball If you want to know about enlistment, I can ask. My hunch, however, is that if you attend a service academy you would be put in either a non-drilling status (Reserves) or removed from active duty (Active). Like I said, if you want I can ask. I'm an Army Recruiter and I have some friends in the USMC office. I also know a class representative from West Point who might be able to answer that question.

  • @Mad4softball If you want to be a Marine officer, I would suggest going to either NROTC Marine Corps Option or Annapolis (which commissions Marine officers). West Point is the Army service academy. I believe that all cadets graduating West Point owe the Army a service obligation. It is fairly hard to transfer between branches for officers too, most branches want to commission their own officers so they can train them the way they want them.

  • @100Dirtbike100 I don't know, but if you want that job, you can get it. Laws need to be changed because there is NO reason that a woman can't have whatever job she wants.

  • Okay so I'm a female.. But I want to know since we can't be in infantry what is the closest job a female can get like that?

  • @Hound419 Amen! :)

  • @Mad4softball if you wanna be a marine you wanna go to the Naval Academy. Those graduates become Navy & Marine Officers. West Point grads serve in the Army.

  • Despite the rules that say women are not in combat jobs, women are fighting in the middle of combat regardless of their job and any high ranked brass all the way to the top will admit that women have done just as well or even better physically or mentally then their male counterparts. It's scientifically proven that women can handle it.
