From a backstage talk during the filming of "A Regular Trouper" (1932).
Released on a Dutch label "Granny's Records"
Grannyphone 03318 "Guitar accompaniment by EDDIE LANG", this was recorded on December 5, 1932
(ARC matrix TO 1236 unissued) during the filming of the Ruth Etting short.
The known voices belong to: Norman "The Gimp" Snider (Ruth Etting's husband/manager), Ruth Etting, Victor Young (in charge of the session) and Eddie Lang.
"The Gimp": Say, Bing is terrific over there.
(WHISTLING IN THE BACKGROUND)
Voice: What?
"The Gimp": Caught him...Thursday...
Voice: I'm only going to play half of "A"...
"The Gimp": Terrific...ain't bringin' no joint no customers in though, sweetheart, no sir...(LAUGHTER)
... what's the matter?
Eddie Lang: Our picture's not so good.
Voice: Didn't blame anybody for it...
"The Gimp": No no no no no- he's- he's dynamite
Eddie Lang: I don't know anything about that. (talking to
"voice")
"The Gimp": But business is... we walked in there and...
(Apparently makes a gesture to indicate 'nobody there'.)
Eddie Lang: I don't know anything about...
(apparently copies "The Gimp's" gesture; general laughter)
I don't even look at the audience.
(Ruth and Eddie begin to talk at the same time. He trails off after a few words, nevertheless leaving her with her words slightly mixed up.)
Eddie Lang: All they blamed us (?)...
Ruth Etting: Say, all those pictures are primarily picture houses, anyway... (probably meaning "all those theatres"?)
"The Gimp": Well, I do (meaning, "I look at the audience")
(SOUND OF PLUCKED VIOLIN STRINGS: E-A-D-G)
"The Gimp": I couldn't figure it out. He's dynamite, though.
Victor Young: Look, Eddie...introduction starts here, play the verse...
"The Gimp": ...sings the hell out of that there, uh...
Victor Young: ...and then go back through here, see? When you get back to the first ending...
"The Gimp": ..."Spare a dime"...
Victor Young: ...go back to the verse...verse is tacet guitar surge
(???)
"The Gimp": ...so... dynamite...
Voice: Where's your makeup?
"The Gimp": ...I enjoyed him very much.
Ruth Etting: Got your makeup?
Eddie Lang: No.
(Checks his guitar's tuning using octaves: "g" on the first string, then open "G", "d" on the second string then open "D", "a" on the third string, then open "A", "e" on the fourth string, then open "E".)
Victor Young: He's dark enough as it is.
Eddie Lang: I had a little makeup woman, ah, tell her (sic) I had too much makeup on (Ruth chuckles)... so I don't put any on.
Ruth Etting: You're hoarse; you're not singing, are you?
Voice: Heh!
Eddie Lang: (jokingly clears his throat; both he and she chuckle)

How was this recorded? Tape recorders didn't exist back then, while few people had expensive, cumbersome home disc-cutting devices. Thanks for posting. Felt as if I had been transported back in time!

Probably with the same recording system used for sound track.
