I agree. the first part with mainly just the erhu is beautiful, it does not need any loud orchestral sound with a 'regular' beat. Par of the beauty of the music is that you never know quite where it's going to lead you. You certainly dont' want a 'regular' beat thrown in to ruin that.
I am born and bred Canadian, with no Asian roots, but I aboslutely love this music, and feel a connection to it. It touches my soul.
