Christine Breese talks with a local Santa Cruz resident about the homeless people's problems in Santa Cruz, California and Arcata, California. There is an ongoing problem with homeless people in both towns and the homeless people don't have anywhere to go. Christine Breese thinks that there should at least be a place set aside for homeless people so that they can be there and have showers and bathrooms at least, even if they can't do more than camp. It is unfair in this society that people suffer so much and so many are homeless in what is supposed to be an affluent nation and has so many rich people in it. The homeless situation shows that there is some kind of terrible imbalance in the United States of America and there is such a gap between the poor and the rich. The middle class is disappearing and only 1 percent of the residents of the United States of America are rich. Everyone else is in the lower middle class which is disappearing fast, or downright poor. The homeless situation is getting worse, and there is no real solution in sight. Christine Breese feels strongly that there is a solution to the problem if only the wealth was distributed more evenly throughout society. How that is to happen, only economists can figure it out, but the current way it works is so unfair to so many homeless. Homelessness is a major problem.
