I spent my free time over the last year restoring my first hobby level r/c, a Futaba FX10 buggy, that I had first bought and built 16 years ago.

This video is a montage of the restoration work I did along with several nostalgic minutes of tearing around some of the local dirt with my son.

  • is there any wheels available? like ebay and stuff? could i buy any old rc wheels and put them on or not?

  • @Manii1992 Sure, there are many types of r/c wheels available on eBay or at any hobby shop. I found my stock wheels on eBay, brand new and still in the bag! The FX10 uses a fairly standard (though older) wheel mount and you can get adapters that will allow you to use other types of wheels.

  • @bjbgraphics wicked stuff! im looking to get a new battery! and im looking to get one on ebay! any suggestions on which to get?

  • @Manii1992 I got my batteries (2 x 2300mAh) from All-Battery on eBay. What you can use will depend on what your speed control will handle. If it's just a stock mechanical controller or even a low-end electronic speed control, you'll probably be fine with NiMH or NiCD batteries.

  • I just found one of these Brand New in my grandparents house is that the stock motor and is it really worth setting up or is it worth something?

  • Wow, nice! I replaced my stock motor with a Tower Hobbies Speed Secret 14T Quad Modified Motor. That's a pretty significant upgrade and required a speed controller (Futaba MC330CR ESC) upgrade as well. You could probably get a pretty good price for it on eBay, especially if it is unassembled and still in the box. Even if it is already fully assembled, if it is in nice condition someone might buy it up. Let me/us know if you decide to sell it!

  • @seanharding Hah, yep! The many "joys" of owning an FX10. I bought up a number of used FX10s on eBay for this restoration and many of them were broken in all the same places. I also used a full set of ball bearings for this restoration. There are links to a full write-up and photos in the info at the top if you are interested. Thanks for the comment!

  • I loved my FX10. I'm pretty sure that stupid plastic front shock tower broke within a week (fixed a couple of times and then replaced with a better after market one), and the plastic bushings wore out in a month or so (replaced with ball bearings). Not the best made car ever, but it was a ton of fun.

  • This is so beautiful to me right now man. This was my older brothers car when we were younger, 88-89 maybe. I had a cheesey one called the Raider I think. I'm about to youtube that as well. Sick vid bra!

  • I strapped my camera to mine and made a dashcam video lol.

    sweet FX10.
