I don't think Bava meant for his films to be taken too seriously. This one is primarily meant to be funny. Check out Lisa and the Devil for a more serious Bava film, way ahead of its time.

Check out Twitch of The Death Nerve under its original title Bay of Blood as well as Beyond the Door ll(aka Shock). Those are also very good Mario Bava flicks.

Dagmar and Betti were having a feud on this film regarding top billing and I think this was someone's idea of a way to get back at them and piss them both off.
