A corny little video that was to my knowledge only available to season ticket holders at the time. Unfortunately its only 35 mins long. I think it could have been 15 mins-20 mins longer or so, so they could have given some of the players a particular spot light. Say maybe talk more about the ov line in particular. Or how sharks only won 2 games with out larionov the whole season. Or how irbe apparently played the whole playoffs with a broken foot. That sorta stuff... But I guess it was just a free little thing so... Oh some better music to...

Of course it wasnt ment to last... The sharks who just the 2 years before did there damnedest to set NHL records for worst team ever, and then this particular year in question, when larionov was actaully healthy were just as good as team as the wings etc in terms of points.(as a matter of fact, the second half of the season the sharks were better then the wings that I recall record wise)Would go in a half a year(which is basically true since 94-95 was really just the 95 season)to the worst team in the NHL again.

Although irbe would get injured in the off season the sharks still got off to a good start in 94-95. But again larionov would get injured in the sharks would start stinking it up again. The players that made them what they were would start becoming expendable. Elik, norton and garpenlov would be traded. 3 main dudes right away. Elik would say something in the media to the exstent of the sharks orginazation didnt care about the older players. Which people would say wasnt true, and they called him a cry baby.(But seriously who belived that? Sharks were super horney about getting rookies in early. Even though it was the older guys like todd elik who was helping them)
They also have some stuff like todd elik is to soft(which is in its own right cuz since he was traded for janney, wasnt janneys knock on him that he was to soft in the playoffs?)There were talks of fights between larionov and errey, which never prooved to be true(that I know of at least). Larionov would get rid of his assistant captaincy. Much controversy in general between larionov. As well.. again he was the leader so... And of course him butt heads with KC. The sharks would say a lot of suspicous things about igor. Just one year before he went from being as important as wayne gretzky, a role model etc. To a player who was lucky to make the money he was, and other random comments about him. He would start getting benched. And knocked down to the second line.

Irbe would also have a shakey year. Though his injury probably did nothing to help this. And im sure the locker room controversy was not good as, irbe and KC being friends... Obviously I would assume irbe has to be at least some what partial to KC at least to a extent maybe? Of course lets not forget the sharks although a defense team to say, werent exactly great defensively. I dont have the stats next to me, but I think it was something like, by 95-96 irbe was averaging another 5 shots against him a game from just a half year beforehand. And in those 94-95 playoffs I thought he was getting a full 7 shots more against him a game then he was in 93-94. So thats... quite a bit of a difference.

And of course just a little over a month I think into the 95-96 season the sharks would only have like 7 of the there players from that 93-94 team. And one could say the only MAIN dudes from it, was irbe, baker
,dahlen, and pederson that I recall. I guess whitney depending on how much of a needed part he was to the sharks in 93-94(which is no bash against him per say, as he is a good player, but im just talking 94 wise. As one of the problems of the sharks period was finding a thrid line that they could actaully stick to.. Sometimes whitney would be on it.. sometimes he would be on the bench and someone else would be... They just couldnt seem to find a line they liked I guess other then the first 2. And even the second besides elik and dahlen got switched quite a bit, between like errey, and duschene etc.)

Other mumblings to come.

  • Still the greatest single season turnaround in NHL history, technically speaking. 24 to 82 points is a 58 point jump. It'd be like the Oilers of last year getting 120+ points this year.

  • see what happened was i was conceived in september of of 1993. the sharks knew i was coming into the world and wanted to be the best team for me. ur welcome san jose :D lol

  • Kevin Constantine's coaching style is mundane much like Jacques Lemaire's is,but he did bring instant credibility to the Sharks for 2 seasons in the playoffs.

  • Look at that Randy hahn hair....Pompadore'd

  • Please dont delete these Sharks and Irbe's videos. Cuz its a history. There are so less videos about Sharks in back days. Even video highlights of one of the greatest hockey goalkeepers ever - Arturs Irbe are so less. Its great to refreash your mind about the time when hockey wasnt just hockey like now. Hockey was a culture. Im asking. Was Sandis Ozolinsh in Sharks team in 1994 ??? i dont remember.

Everybody things that Ozo is retired o hockey now. But nope. Hes playing in KHL. And hes amazing

  • awesome!!
