"The Rising Storm - Calm Before...- 1967 US"

"The Rising Storm-Alive Again At Andover -1982 US":

In 1967, the Rising Storm, a garage rock band comprised of six guys attending a prep school in Andover, Massachusetts, went into a local studio and cut an album, largely because they were going to graduate in a few months and wanted to document themselves before they broke up. Years later, that album, Calm Before , had become a much sought after collector's item among garage rock obsessives.
So in 1982, the Rising Storm were minor league celebrities, having been persuaded to do some club shows in Boston a few months earlier in the wake of their rediscovery, when they agreed to play a set for the occasion of their fifteenth-year high school reunion (with original bassist Todd Cohen replaced by fan Andy Paley).
"Alive Again At Andover" is a historical live album recorded during a show the band played at a Phillips Academy 15th Class Reunion at Andover, MA. The band only plays one of its original tunes in the live show, but after the passage of 15 years the Rising Storm still sound like themselves and it captures the spirit of the group's first era with commendable accuracy.

  • I really like this kind of raw and honest garage rock. It doesn´t matter that the background singers are a little bit out of tune. My hobby is to rediscover all those bands that didn´t "broke through" during the 60s. It´s a musical treasure. Listen for example to:

THE ZETTLERS and their versions of "Skinnie Minnie" and "Beautiful Delilah". Really f....g good with a bloody driving beat,

THE GOLLIWOGS and the tune "Tell me". Check up the singer ----- yes, it´s him!!

  • I didn't know... thanks for the informations... I just listened to the original song by The Remains... anyway The Rising Storm were a good 60's band...

  • Very good cover of a great song by local Boston legends The Remains, from early 1967, written by Billy Vera (Billy & The Beaters). The coda tacked on the end is a bit of the Remains "You've Got a Hard Time Comin'" These kids were all 17/18 at the time!

  • Wonderful song by an underrated band... thanks for uploading!
