It's funny, I'm from Surrey which is in southern England and my hubby is born and raised Brooklyn boy. It's taken me a long time to realize there are so many variations on dialect within NYC alone and he can point out where exactly ppl are from in the area by how they talk. My ear has become very fine tuned in the last... 40 yrs so now I hear the differences too but can ALWAYS tell a guy from the borough apart from others. I love Brooklyn men.
