I was using a "stainless" splatter guard and decided to try this due to some rusting issues with the splatter screen after only 4-5 brews.

  • Are you sure it was rust and not beerstone? Beerstone looks like rust, but can be scrubbed off with a plastic scouring pad.

  • @SomethinFishy99 Very sure. Thanks for asking!

  • Jeez, I hope you get all these kinks worked out! Hopefully the rice hulls will cure it all!

  • @tomroeder I know! I'm such a whiner eh?? HAHAHA. Small challenges though. I think if I can find me a person to sew those drawstrings on I am golden.

  • What would it hurt to put the cloth screen on the bottom and then the metal screen on top of it? It's not like it'd be touching the heating element or anything, I really think you should try it out.

  • @blawjr I thought of that too. However, you would run into the same issue as on top and not secure (like with the paper clips). The filter would have to "ride" under the sieve perfectly to get it to the bottom ledge. You also wouldn't be able to see if it wasn't sitting perfect once it was under there. Good idea though. Thanks for your suggestion!
