This vodcast is about the marketing activities of the pharmaceutical industry. The vodcast starts with a short introduction about the Dutch law regarding the marketing of drugs. Hereafter some of the tools used by the pharmaceutical industry to promote their drugs are explained. Among other things the phenomena of disease marketing, ghost writing and seeding trials are discussed. The marketing tools are illustrated with examples from the field, like the Vioxx-case. In between the items Drs. R. Coolen van Brakel, chairman at the Dutch Institute of Rational Use of Medicine, gives his opinions about pharma-marketing.
