Dream Tone (sometimes seen as DreamTone) is a doujin fighting game with colorful characters and fairly simplistic gameplay centered around elemental tones and music, presented by "Hikari no Kobako" or "Small Box of Light" (光の小箱), the majority of characters being female. It is currently a WIP (Work in Progress) and was started back in 2007 and the developer allows players to get hints on their progress by checking their blog or playing the highest difficulty levels, which reveal new additions to the game or guest characters. The game has reached a video-worthy state to show what the game is looking like. The author's enthusiasm towards their work shows with their regular blog updates and occasional tweaks to the game engine.
The game has a very basic fighting engine where most moves are executed merely by pressing a single button in conjunction with a direction and most characters can cancel into most or all of their moves at will, either by default or after the initiating the game's "Dream" state (which enhances certain moves and character abilities by using your musical notes at low health). Characters have at least two super moves, numerous special attacks, the ability to charge power to gain faster super gauges, and the ability to evade attacks. Most characters can also counter or negate blows using certain moves and the proper timing. The game currently has seven playable characters, three unplayable characters including one boss, and a few guest characters, some which are show either in illustrations or on stage backgrounds.
The playable characters at this time are Aria, Scena, Air, Hikari, Pomme, Frosch, and Firn. The unplayable characters are currently Koakumu, Drowse, and Alb (Alp). There are a few guest characters with the potential to become playble characters added to the current game or added to an updated version of the game (such as DreamTone X Requiem). They are Noah, Carroll, Selena, Valencia, Len-Fre and Raven (which would make a 16 character roster if they were all playable). The audio/visuals are decent for the game, though the characters could use less stiff animations. Some of them are good and the special effects are fine, but some look incredibly stiff. A few more frames inbetween would make things look much nicer. You can get this game at:

@IAMCARBONDOG A game quite like Dong Dong doesn't come around very often in the independent game community.
