Biggest Student Visa Fraud Bust in History

Florida Language School officials charged with student visa fraud scheme
The feds say more than 200 foreigners were able to stay in the U.S. using visas illegally acquired through a small language school.

The Florida Language Institute occupies two small rooms in a corner of the second floor of a strip mall near a corner of West Miami-Dade.

But federal officials say the intensive English-as-a-second-language courses that the school offered to foreign students were not the only service for sale.

On Thursday, the school's owner and director and the office manager faced charges of running a vast student-visa fraud scheme, and the Department of Homeland Security has essentially shut down the school, prohibiting it from accepting any more foreign students.

Officials said at least 80 students from multiple countries were also taken into custody and may be deported as a result of the two-year probe.

According to federal officials, the women, Lydia Menocal and Ofelia Macia, tricked immigration officials into granting more than 200 student visas to foreign nationals who were not really students.

I have been in that school and they were all acting like they were there to learn English. There is a lot of fraud in South Florida including government program fraud & medicaid fraud. You all Americans need to fight corruption and criminals in government.

I don't agree what USA government done. I heard that not all of students who got arrested in custody committed the USA law. some of them just register the course not yet started to study at all, but ICE charged them while they stayed at their home in early morning. I also know that the way of their charge is so so outraged by using gun point out kids' head. that's too much for the kids

Do you know how corrupt Miami and South Florida is? #1 in crime, drug trade & government programs fraud; they milk the USA economy dry. Mostly Jews and Cubans along with the immigrants of Haiti and other criminals all converged there to do crimes. These students are not welcomed by the local criminal government & neither is anybody else.

I honestly don't know what you are attempting to say. None of these kids had any criminal background / link to terrorist orginazation. Someone in ICE is trying to advance their career, so instead of going after the actual problem (Mexican/American border they're going after the easy targets.

As reported in the Washington Times, the Heritage Foundation's Robert Rector calculates that during their lifetimes(ILLEGALS), they will likely receive "$2.5 trillion more in government services than they will pay in taxes." Among those benefits are Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, SSI, public housing, subsidized college education and Social Security Disability Insurance. We must fix this invasion problem with public activism and our votes.
